During our FLINT KNAPPING WORKSHOP we will take a journey back in time - learning the ancient skill of stone tool making.  We will begin with a  rock with no visible use and turn it into one of the most important survival tools ever discovered.  The students will be introduced to several techniques and materials that will unveil a world of possibilities for a beginning or intermediate flint knapper.  During this class we will concentrate on the proper form and early stages of reduction which include spalling, percussion flaking, and bi-facing.  The more advanced techniques including; pressure flaking, sharpening and notching will be demonstrated and depending on you practiced.  The stages of reduction covered will help the students understand how different types of stone tools evolved over time.
