Meet The Plants
MEET THE PLANTS!
The
course focuses on the different plants and plant uses
of the current season. We will walk through different habitats, identifying
edible plants as well as pointing out harmful plants to avoid, collecting
safely with proper conservation techniques, and frequently sampling many of
our wild plant foods. The modern native needs to know about plants as a
source of food, medicine, cordage (string or rope), building materials,
tools, firewood and last but definitely not least - what poisonous plants to
avoid!
This class is taught by a guest instructor from Earth Connection who is donating
his fee to Ancestral Knowledge. Rick Hueston, he likes to be called “Hue,” is
an explorer-naturalist of a different breed. He uses a self-developed method
for teaching that centers on the traditional Native American Medicine Wheel as
metaphor. He is a curious naturalist exploring our natural world with predator
vision, awareness and intuition.
